PVC film – strong and flexible material, which typically used for manufacturing of packing by thermoforming method.

PVC film is produced only from rigid PVC, which free of vaporable plasticizers. As result, PVC film possess such qualities as high thermal and chemical resistance, good light resistance and high mar resistance.
High quality PVC film is destined for packaging of pharmaceutical products (tablets, capsules), it has finest thermoforming properties, meets all pharmaceutical requirements, which presented to insensible medications.

Main types of PVC film:

  • Shrinkable film  (PVC, LDPE, OPS, LLDPE, PET, different types of multilayer films)
  • Skin-film
  • Stretch film  (PVC, LDPE, LLDPE – linear low-density polyethylene)
  • Laminated films / materials
  • Laminated paper
  • Bagging film
  • Twist wrap films
  • Holographic film
  • Cavitated film   (Ethafoam, Cellular polypropylene)
  • Aerial-vesicular film
  • РЕ – polyethylene film (LDPE, LLDPE, LDPE/LLDPE, HOPE)
  • РЕ Соех- co-extruded polyethylene film
  • PVC – polyvinylchloride film

Major production methods of layered films and materials:

  • Lamination;
  • Co-extrusion;
  • Extrusion Lamination;
  • Adhesive Lamination.

All too often feature composition are required. Film structures may be selected for demonstration of wide range of specialized functions of package, through lamination and coextrusion..

Such materials have important advantages over single-layer film materials, which are widely used as packing, due to long shelf life of packaging products, high mechanical properties, interlayer printing, protected from damages, improving of packing appearance.

Due to a wide range of available compositions of different layers, it is too hard to describe all of them. Some manufacturers, creating unique types of films, don’t disclose these structure in order to protect their copyrights for manufactured films.

ВDepending on required barrier properties, manufacturer select optimal combination of composite materials. In addition to polymer layers, aluminum foil and paper are very often used for manufacturing of composite materials. Interlayer printing, metallization, heat seal lacquer coating and other types of coating are used in manufacturing process.

Applicable for vacuum packaging of meat and fish products, sausages, semi-finished goods, vegetables etc. There are many different varieties of bagging films, which properties depend on quantity and types of layers and additives used in manufacturing of the film. Examples: PE/PA/EVOH/PA/PE, PE/PA/PE, PA/PE/PE, APET/PE, PVC/PE, EVOH/PE, OPA/PE, PET/PE, OPET/EVOH/PE, EPET/PE etc.

Twist wrap films (PE, Polifan, Haikor, PVC, BOPP)

   Basic property of twist wrap film – to save twisted state or rather “good memory” – twist effect (for example, it is important at sweets packaging). The film is heat-sealed, metalized and laminated, has a good gloss, gives products attractive shape, holds the seal well and has good barrier properties

Holographic film (PET, PVC, BOPP, multilayer)

   Due to high levels of brightness and gloss it puts aesthetic properties and unusual optical effects to various production. Also used for “cold” and “hot” lamination, for production of holographic cardboard, paper, self-adhesive materials. Holographic films may be transparent and metallized.

Foamed film (polyethylene fom, polypropylene foam)

   Material produced of expanded foam polyethylene and polypropylene, it destined for packing of glass, frangible, breakable things and kitchenware, electronic household appliances and industrial engineering, microelectronic components etc. Used as packing insulation sheet for tops and caps. Widely used for thermal-, sound-, water- and electrical insulation in construction industry, car manufacturing, electrical and electronic engineering and light industry. Protects against blows, scratches and cleaves.

Bubble film (air bubble)

   Film which is made of LDPE and consist of several layers: two-layer – a layer of smooth polyethylene and bubbles layer, three-layer – bubbles layer between two layers of smooth polyethylene. Film provides crush protection, prevents penetration of dampness, protects against scratches, creates presentable appearance for packing product, possess flexibility, make it possible to manufacture bags at individual sizes. Also applies as covering material for pools, hothouses and as insulation material in construction field.

PE - PE – Polyethylene film (LDPE, LLDPE, LDPE/LLDPE, HDPE)

   Protects against oxygen and dampness. Used as disposable packing of short shelf life products in food industry, retail trades, “fast food”, also in agriculture sector and construction field. Being in direct contact with the product, it provides longer storage of products, helps to preserve their properties, prevents rapid drying, protects against external impact and off-odor permeation.

PE Coex – Co-extruded polyethylene film

   Co-extruded three-layer polyethylene film (different combinations of LDPE and HDPE are possible). Such film is distinguishes by improved optical properties. Also significantly increases tensile at break, stretching and puncture. Three-layer structure allows to achieve optimal technological and exploitation properties of film at cost minimization.

PVC – polyvinylchloride (PVC) film

   «Breathing film» used as disposable packing of long shelf life products. PVC film has all advantages of polyethylene films, but with improved capability. In line with all this, such films have “barrier-layer” effect, in other words transmission of air components (steam, carbon dioxide) outside and oxygen inside. As a result of such property secures a “breath” of products – maintenance of microclimate inside the package and thus long-term conservation of products.

BOPP – biaxially oriented polypropylene film

   Has superior transparency, gloss and excellent appearance, high flexibility and tensile at break (which makes possible to use films thinner than others), finest dielectric capabilities and barrier properties for water vapor and gas permeability, also for foreign odors. The special co-extruded copolymer layer provides excellent welding ability. Types: transparent, white, pearl, metallized. Applies at flexographic printing, lamination, producing of decorative covering, for production of flexible packing materials for food products.

CPP – Cast non oriented polypropylene film

   Has high mechanical resistance, high transparency, gloss, excellent appearance, increased resistance to acids and fats, thermo-bondability, capability to metallization and overprinting. Due to high thermal strength of polypropylene, packaged products may be sterilized in film with thickness from 30 to 40 micron, which allows to avoid preservatives usage. Microperforation can be deposited on the film, which makes possible to pack products in hot form. Used for film lamination, producing of flexible materials.

Application: Sleeve label (shrink sleeve); heat shrink hood (wine etc.).

PS – Polystyrene film

   Overstability of sizes, rigidity and transparency. It is one of the most common plastics, first of all, due to its low price. This is relatively lightweight polymer and, at the same time, stable and easy-to-process material. It has good water resistance, accommodates low temperatures, and differs by resistance to acids and alkalies. Polystyrene is well molded at high temperature. Polystyrene film used in weighting-and-packing machine for packaging of milk and other food products, for correxes manufacturing (underlayer for sweets), disposable cutlery, blister packaging and other products.
